New Delhi, 4 September 2025 — SEMICON India 2025, the country’s largest semiconductor conference, concluded today at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi, marking a historic milestone in India’s semiconductor journey. Held from 2nd to 4th September 2025, the event brought together more than 350 exhibiting companies and participants from 48 countries, including four country pavilions, numerous roundtable discussions, and a workforce development pavilion. The conference agenda covered critical areas such as semiconductor design, fabrication, packaging, R&D, state policies, and ecosystem development.
Prime Minister Modi Champions India’s Semiconductor Vision
Union Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the event and engaged extensively with exhibitors and global CEOs to hear perspectives on India’s emerging semiconductor landscape. He emphasized the creation of an indigenous semiconductor ecosystem, uniting design, manufacturing, and packaging capabilities in India. “We are creating a semiconductor ecosystem that makes India self-reliant and globally competitive,” said PM Modi. “The day is not far when India’s smallest chip will drive the world’s biggest change.”
Driving Innovation and Strategic Partnerships
SEMICON India 2025 was jointly organized by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and SEMI, the global industry association. The conference catalyzed investment, research commercialization, workforce skill development, and integration into the global semiconductor value chain. Thirteen MoUs were announced on Day 1 across strategic areas including chip design, camera modules, and miniature packaging, signaling India’s strong commitment to indigenous innovation.
Unprecedented Industry Engagement
The event attracted 35,000 registrations, 30,000 physical attendees, and 25,000 online viewers. Industry leaders, researchers, analysts, and professionals from design engineering to semiconductor manufacturing actively participated in panel discussions and keynote sessions designed to accelerate India’s chip design ecosystem.
Establishing India as a MedTech Manufacturing Hub
SEMICON India 2025 exemplified India’s transition from a semiconductor consumer to a global manufacturing and design hub. Supported by robust government initiatives and investments totalling over $18 billion in projects since 2021, India is viewed as the next frontier for semiconductor innovation, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
Looking Ahead: Next-Generation Reforms and Ecosystem Growth
PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s long-term commitment to semiconductor growth, highlighting upcoming reforms and policies in the next phase of the India Semiconductor Mission. He stated, “Our journey began late but nothing can stop us now. Our policies are not short-term signals; they are long-term commitments.”
Conclusion
