New Delhi: The Ministry of Culture organized a spirited “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” Shramdaan drive at the historic Purana Quila in New Delhi on September 25, 2025, as part of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva campaign being observed across all 43 organizations under the Ministry of Culture from September 17 to October 2, 2025.
Collective Effort for Cleanliness at Historic Site
Hundreds of officials from the Ministry of Culture and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) participated actively, dedicating one hour to clean the green lawns and the surrounding areas near Humayun’s Gate of Purana Quila. The drive was led by the Director General of ASI, who commenced the event by administering the Swachhata Pledge to all attendees, reinforcing the collective commitment to cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
Waste Management and Plantation Drive
The waste collected during the Shramdaan was carefully segregated and disposed of following established waste management protocols, showcasing an eco-responsible approach. The cleanup was followed by a plantation drive near the Kunti Mata Mandir within the Purana Quila premises. The Director General (ASI) planted a Kalp Vriksha, also known as the “wish-fulfilling tree,” symbolizing growth, prosperity, and sustainability.
Senior officials including Shri Gurmeet Singh Chawla, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, participated in planting a variety of trees such as Peepal, Mango, Lemon, Karonda, and Amla, enhancing the ecological balance and green cover of the iconic heritage site.
