Sig Sauer partners with Nibe Group to manufacture firearms in India, addressing growing demand in India and the eastern hemisphere.
Sig Sauer has secured a contract to supply approximately 145,000 assault rifles to the Indian Army. Through its collaboration with the Nibe Group, Sig Sauer takes a significant step forward in transforming India’s defense manufacturing landscape. This partnership enhances India’s domestic production capabilities and contributes to the country’s defense modernization efforts. By 2025, Sig Sauer plans to manufacture fully Indian-made firearms, initially targeting the domestic market. This will include products catering to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Furthermore, this move reflects the company’s long-term strategy to strengthen its presence in India and serve as a regional hub for the Eastern hemisphere.
Sig Sauer’s President and CEO, Ron Cohen, highlighted that India has become the company’s largest global procurement source. Sig Sauer will deliver an additional 73,000 Sig 716 rifles in 2025, confident in India’s growing defense manufacturing expertise.
