Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Denies Links with Adani, Challenges BJP on JPC Probe

Stalin’s firm denial and his challenge for a JPC probe underline the political friction over the Adani controversy, with opposition parties leveraging the issue against the BJP-led government.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday refuted allegations of any association with industrialist Gautam Adani and questioned whether the BJP and its ally, PMK, were ready to agree to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Adani controversy.

Stalin made these remarks in response to PMK leader GK Mani during a session in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. Addressing the claims, Stalin asserted, “I have never met Adani and have no ties with him whatsoever. Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji has already provided a detailed explanation. Are you prepared for a JPC probe on this matter?”

The Chief Minister accused the BJP and PMK of spreading misinformation about his alleged connections with Adani. This comes amid ongoing calls by the Congress and other opposition parties for a JPC investigation into allegations of bribery involving Adani Group officials, following reports of indictments in a US court.

Initially, Assembly Speaker M Appavu resisted Mani’s attempt to raise the issue, citing its discussion in Parliament. However, Mani persisted, describing the allegations as serious and demanding a direct clarification from the Chief Minister.
