Tamil Nadu Weather Update Hints at Heat Spike and Thunderstorms Between June 3–4
Tamil Nadu Weather Update brings a mixed forecast of rising temperatures and scattered rainfall for the first week of June. According to the latest alert from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai, several parts of Tamil Nadu are expected to experience maximum temperatures soaring up to 2°C to 3°C above normal, even as light to moderate rainfall may offer brief relief in certain areas.
Over the past few days, sporadic rainfall across Tamil Nadu helped reduce the intensity of the scorching summer heat. However, the dry spell returned quickly in many districts. Places like Karaikal remained dry while a few isolated locations in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry recorded short spells of light to moderate rain. The highest temperature was recorded at Madurai Airport, touching 39.4°C.
Fishermen Advisory Based on Tamil Nadu Weather Update
Weather experts explain that the rising temperatures are due to fluctuations in westerly wind patterns. As a result, heat and humidity are expected to intensify on June 3 and June 4. During this period, people in a few regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may witness occasional thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, with clouds building up during the day and short showers expected by evening or night.
According to the forecast, today (June 3), skies will remain partly cloudy across several parts of the state. In major cities and urban areas, especially in Chennai, the maximum temperature may hover around 38°C, with the minimum temperature expected to stay between 28°C and 29°C. Tomorrow (June 4), similar conditions will prevail, with daytime temperatures ranging from 37°C to 38°C and night temperatures remaining around 28°C.
Sudden Heat Surge Expected Despite Light Rain in Parts of the State
The forecast also predicts that from June 5 to June 9, light to moderate rainfall may continue in scattered areas across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. However, the heat and humidity levels may not drop significantly, keeping conditions uncomfortable during the day.
In addition to the heat warning, fishermen have been cautioned about strong squally winds expected over the coastal and sea regions. On June 3, high-speed winds blowing at 35–45 km/h, occasionally reaching up to 55 km/h, are likely over the Gulf of Mannar, South Tamil Nadu coast, and the Kanyakumari Sea.
From June 4 to June 5, similar windy conditions may prevail along the North Tamil Nadu coast and the adjacent South Andhra coastal zones. The central and northern Bay of Bengal will also witness strong winds during the same period. Fishermen are strongly advised to avoid venturing into these sea areas during these dates due to the risk of rough seas and unstable weather patterns.
On the western side, the Arabian Sea is likely to experience stronger winds. From June 3 to June 4, parts of the southwest and central-west Arabian Sea may see wind speeds ranging between 45–55 km/h, gusting up to 65 km/h. Coastal regions of Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep are also expected to experience turbulent weather and sea conditions.
From June 5 to June 7, parts of the Arabian Sea may continue to be affected by winds of similar strength, keeping marine conditions risky for small boats and fishing vessels.
