President Trump confirmed the agreement on his social media platform, stating, “I just spoke with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico. She agreed during a very friendly conversation to immediately deploy 10,000 Mexican soldiers to the border between Mexico and the United States. These soldiers will specifically work to stop the flow of fentanyl and illegal migrants into our country.
In response, President Sheinbaum expressed her commitment to enhancing border security, writing, “Our teams will start working today in two areas: security and commerce.”
This development comes after President Trump announced the imposition of 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, and a 10% tariff on goods from China, citing concerns over illegal immigration and drug trafficking.
