The United Nations Troop Contributing Countries (UNTCC) Chiefs’ Conclave 2025, hosted by the Indian Army from 14–16 October 2025, concluded in New Delhi after three days of high-level deliberations, bilateral meetings, and ceremonial events. Hon’ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, interacted with the Chiefs and representatives of UN Troop Contributing Nations at Rashtrapati Bhawan, commending the invaluable contributions of Indian and international peacekeepers.
She praised the unity of participating countries in shaping a workable framework for future peacekeeping operations amid evolving global challenges. The President emphasized the integration of all stakeholders, the use of technology, and the cultivation of deeper cooperation and friendship to safeguard the lives and missions of UN peacekeepers.


India’s Perspective on Recalibrating Peacekeeping

Hon’ble External Affairs Minister, Dr S. Jaishankar, in his address, called for recalibrating UN peacekeeping in accordance with the changing dynamics of global conflicts, especially with the rise of non-state actors and hybrid warfare.
He stressed that mandates must be realistic, consultative, and inclusive, incorporating perspectives from troop-contributing and host nations alike. Dr. Jaishankar reiterated that while peacekeeping remains central to global stability, adaptability, improved technology, and enhanced safety measures are now essential for mission success in complex environments.


Technology and Innovation in UN Peacekeeping

An Interactive Session on “Leveraging Technology in UN Peacekeeping” featured Chiefs and representatives from UN TCC nations alongside 15 industry leaders.
Discussions focused on how indigenous technological innovations could improve operational efficiency, crisis response, logistics, and troop protection. Participants highlighted the need for innovation-driven collaboration, enabling nations to share best practices and harness smart technologies to enhance situational awareness and mission outcomes.


Bilateral Engagements and Defence Expo

General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, held bilateral meetings with the Army Chiefs of Burundi, Tanzania, Poland, Ethiopia, Nepal, and Uganda, discussing avenues for defence cooperationinteroperability, and coordinated peacekeeping missions.
A parallel Defence Expo showcased nine operational domains and 41 exhibitors presenting indigenous weapon systems, platforms, and technologies. The exhibition highlighted India’s emphasis on Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence through innovation and the “Design, Develop, Deliver” ethos driving indigenous military capability.




Tribute and Sustainability Initiative

The distinguished delegates, accompanied by their spouses, paid homage at the National War Memorial, honouring India’s fallen heroes. A tree plantation ceremony at the Manekshaw Centre followed, symbolizing commitment to sustainability through planting Ashoka saplings in the “Peacekeepers Grove.”
This initiative resonated with the national campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, embodying a message of gratitude, environmental consciousness, and harmony between humanity and nature.
