Urvashi Rautela has found herself at the center of controversy after her remarks about Saif Ali Khan’s recent stabbing incident sparked backlash. The actress, however, has now clarified her statements, revealing that she was “clueless” about the details of the incident at the time of the interview.
During a recent conversation with Filmfare, Urvashi admitted that she was not fully aware of the situation when asked about Saif’s attack. “The incident happened at 4 am, and my interviews took place at 8 am. She explained, “I was completely clueless about the severity of the situation.” Urvashi revealed that, upon waking up, she was informed about Saif’s injury, but she didn’t know its full extent. “I don’t know how badly he got hurt,” she added. I come from the film industry, and my heart goes out to him,” she added.
The actress also expressed that, at that time, multiple accounts of the incident were circulating, and she was unsure of which version to trust. “Everybody is telling a different story, so I didn’t know what to believe or what to answer,” she said.
Urvashi further clarified that the interviews, scheduled to celebrate the success of her Telugu film Daaku Maharaaj, led her to mention the film frequently during the conversation. “I talked about Daaku Maharaaj because the interviews focused on its success,” she explained.
Contrary to some people’s interpretations, she clarified that she was not referring to the attacker as a “maha-raaj.” “I love my parents, and I feel they are my gods. I got a bit too excited with the kind of gifts I received. As we say in Hindi, josh mein hosh kho dena (I lost my composure in the excitement),” she added.
Earlier, when asked about the stabbing incident at Saif’s Bandra residence, Urvashi had responded sympathetically, expressing concern about the growing insecurity people feel due to such attacks. “It is very unfortunate. We don’t feel confident wearing our gifts openly because of the insecurity that anyone could attack us,” she said. Her comments linked the incident to a broader sense of insecurity felt by the public.
On January 17, Saif Ali Khan was attacked in his apartment by an intruder, who stabbed him multiple times. Following multiple surgeries for injuries near his spine and neck, Saif was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on January 21. He is now recovering at home, with increased security measures in place to ensure his safety.
Urvashi’s clarification comes after a period of intense media scrutiny, and she has reiterated her support for Saif, hoping for his swift and full recovery.
