In a tragic and shocking incident, a man from Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife and four daughters, with the involvement of his son.
According to police reports, Badar alias Badruddin and his son Arshad allegedly murdered their family members on December 31, 2024, at Sharanjeet Hotel in the Charbagh area of Lucknow. The murders came to light on January 1, 2025, when police launched an investigation into the gruesome crime.
The Arrests
Badar was arrested on Monday following a tip-off, while his son Arshad was detained shortly after the incident. During his arrest, Badar attempted to ingest a poisonous substance in an effort to take his own life, but his attempt was thwarted by police personnel.
The victims included Badar’s 49-year-old wife, Asma, and their four daughters: Alshia (19), Rahmeen (18), Aksa (16), and Alia (9).
Confession and Motive
A video purportedly featuring Arshad surfaced on social media, where he confessed to the horrific crime. In the video, Arshad claimed that he had slit the wrists and throats of his mother and sisters, alleging that he was driven to commit the murders due to harassment from some members of his community in Agra.
“I, along with my entire family, am forced to take this step in helplessness and despair… I have killed my sisters and myself. When the police get this video, I request that they hold the people of the locality responsible for all of this,” Arshad said in the disturbing footage.
Police Investigation and Rewards
The police had earlier announced a reward of Rs.25,000 for information about Badar and released his photographs to aid in his capture. A non-bailable warrant had been issued against him prior to his arrest.
The case has left the community in shock, as authorities continue to investigate the motivations behind the brutal killings and the involvement of both father and son in the crime.
