Why Saif Ali Khan’s Attacker Shariful Fakir Couldn’t Escape to Bangladesh

Saif Ali Khan’s attacker, Shariful Fakir, had plans to flee to Bangladesh after the stabbing incident, but his escape was thwarted by quick action from the police and complications with travel arrangements.

Breaking News

Mumbai: Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, the Bangladesh national accused of stabbing Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, had plotted an escape to Bangladesh following the January 16 attack. However, his plan to flee was foiled when Mumbai Police swiftly apprehended him before he could board a train to Howrah, near Kolkata.

Fakir’s Attempted Escape

According to reports, after the violent altercation at Saif Ali Khan’s residence, Fakir intended to make his way to Howrah to eventually travel to Bangladesh. However, as he tried to make last-minute arrangements for his travel, Fakir encountered obstacles that hindered his escape. The Mumbai Police’s quick response and increased awareness of the situation put significant pressure on him.

The Flawed Plan

Fakir’s initial plan involved purchasing a train ticket to Howrah, but the last-minute booking resulted in increased demand and higher prices. Unable to pay the elevated fare and realizing that the police were closing in on him, Fakir’s escape plan began to fall apart. Before he could secure a ticket, Mumbai Police tracked him down and arrested him in Thane, effectively preventing his flight from the country.

Police Investigation

Mumbai Police are currently investigating Fakir’s connections to local travel agents who were contacted for his ticket arrangements. These agents will be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation into the stabbing incident. The police aim to uncover more details about the suspect’s movements and any assistance he might have received while attempting to flee the country.

Saif Ali Khan’s Recovery

After being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, Saif Ali Khan underwent a five-hour surgery for the multiple stab wounds he sustained during the attack. He was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, accompanied by his wife, Kareena Kapoor. The actor, who had been in the ICU post-surgery, is expected to rest for a week as advised by doctors. He has also been asked to avoid visitors to prevent infection. To ensure his safety, additional security measures and CCTV cameras have been installed at his Bandra residence.

Conclusion

Shariful Fakir’s attempt to escape was hindered by both Mumbai Police’s vigilance and the practical challenges he faced in arranging last-minute travel. Despite his plans to flee to Bangladesh, Fakir was caught before he could escape, and he now faces charges for the attack on Saif Ali Khan, who is thankfully on the road to recovery.
