Former cricketer Yograj Singh, father of ex-Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, has sparked widespread criticism for his controversial remarks during an interview with YouTuber Samdish Bhatia. Singh claimed that women should not be given power, asserting they would “destroy everything around them.”
In the interview, Yograj stated, “Never give power to women. Give them love, respect, and honor,” and cited the example of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, alleging her tenure harmed the nation. He further commented, “Ask a woman to run a household, and it will be ruined.”
Singh’s remarks extended beyond governance, as he suggested that Hindi is a “feminine” language suitable for women, whereas men should converse in Punjabi.

His statements have ignited a fierce debate on social media. Many condemned his patriarchal views, with one user on X (formerly Twitter) commenting, “What Yograj Singh said reflects the deep-seated misogyny ingrained in our culture. The issue goes beyond him; it’s systemic.”
