Mumbai: Sana Malik, daughter of seasoned politician Nawab Malik, is contesting the Anushakti Nagar Assembly seat under the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). With a robust background as an architect and lawyer, Sana has actively shaped grassroots politics since 2017, driven by her vision for development and social welfare.
Sana’s campaign reflects her extensive work in Anushakti Nagar, where she has focused on issues like youth unemployment, drug abuse, and inadequate healthcare infrastructure. Since stepping into the political forefront after her father’s arrest in 2022 on money laundering charges, Sana has collaborated with law enforcement to combat drug rackets in areas like Cheeta Camp, apprehending key offenders and addressing safety concerns. Her commitment extends to tackling unemployment through regular job fairs and skill development programs.
Healthcare remains a cornerstone of her agenda. Building on her father’s efforts, she has advocated for expanding the Shatabdi Hospital into a 500-bed facility and establishing a medical college to enhance local healthcare access. Additionally, she plans to address connectivity challenges in Vashi Naka and improve infrastructure for transit camps and vertical slum dwellers.
Despite internal challenges, including limited support from allied parties like the BJP and Shiv Sena, Sana has garnered significant backing from NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who has actively endorsed her candidacy. Her confidence stems from a history of community engagement and a reputation for results-driven leadership.
