Siddaramaiah Under Fire: Congress Alleges BJP’s Misuse of ED and CBI for Political Gain
BENGALURU: Amid increasing scrutiny on Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress leaders are intensifying their claims that the BJP-led central government is leveraging investigative agencies to disrupt the state’s Congress-led administration. Congress MLA Naseer Ahmed openly criticized these tactics, accusing the BJP of using central agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), to apply undue pressure on Siddaramaiah’s government and destabilize its activities.
Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Abhishek Manu Singhvi voiced concerns over what they consider systematic targeting of opposition figures, accusing the ED of being a “political tool” of the BJP. They argue that the agency’s investigations predominantly target opposition leaders, with Singhvi stating that almost 95% of ED’s political cases focus on the opposition. This, he claims, is an attempt by the BJP to intimidate opponents as a prelude to the upcoming elections in Karnataka.
Despite the pressure, Siddaramaiah remains resolute. Emphasizing his commitment to public service, he stated that there was no reason for him to resign over “baseless allegations.” Deputy CM DK Shivakumar also confirmed Congress’s backing, attributing the situation to political motives from the BJP, which he claims aims to destabilize their administration by sowing discord through these investigations.
As the situation develops, Siddaramaiah could face further legal proceedings, with potential challenges emerging within his party as well. The central government’s actions in this case are drawing widespread attention and criticism, especially among Congress supporters, and have intensified the political rivalry leading up to the Karnataka assembly elections.
Krishna resides within us

Nagpur :Krishna had imparted many life-transforming teachings through The Bhagavad Gita. While his words were recorded thousands of years ago during Mahabharat, his words still resonate with us, for they are beyond time and space. Often overlooked for its ancientness, perhaps his principles can serve as a template towards a successful life in the 21st century. And we shall look into some of them, a couple of Shloka at a time.
After witnessing the various peculiarities of society and the world, Arjun became very confused and uncertain about what his actions should be. Krishna told him a very simple way to overcome that uncertainty in The Bhagavad Gita’s 18th chapter through the 66th verse.
सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज | अहं त्वां सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुच:
sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śharaṇaṁ vraja
ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣhayiṣhyāmi mā śhuchaḥ
The mind is biased, a man often loses reality to his mental constructs. Krishna can teach a drifting mind only so many times. A man has to perform his rightful duties which asks him to become self-reliant and for that, he has to surrender to a higher energy.
Arjun, simply, has to surrender all of his duties, his ego, his sins and himself to Krishna, the infinite, the eternal, the all-knowing. Arjun, simply, has to take refuge in Krishna, listen to Krishna and do as he says. Arjun will become liberated of all his sins, his fear will go away, his drifting mind will become grounded and he will gain clarity and attain wisdom. Everything Arjun does will by default be the right thing and his actions will naturally be the most appropriate action, for, self-surrender is the fruit of all duties and hence the ultimate goal. All teachings of Sanatan Dharma; the Veda, The Puran, The Upanishad combined impart the ultimate lesson of self-surrender.
Let us look at an interesting story. There was once a man who starts worshipping the idol of Krishna after a friend advises him to. He would, every day, like a ritual, bathe the idol, decorate it, and offer fruits, garlands and incense. He recites many mantras and does a lot of Pooja. But as years pass by, he starts feeling disappointed as nothing he asks for gets fulfilled. So, the same friend then asks him to worship the idol of Kali instead. As he is about to offer garlands and incense to the idol, he thinks about how it can hurt Krishna’s idol and proceeds to blindfold the idol. As he is about to, Krishna’s hand stretches out and takes hold of the man’s hand. In shock at what unfolded in front of him, he asks Krishna “Why did you show yourself only when I am about to stop worshipping you?”. Krishna, very calmly, replies, “Because only now, you have considered me as a living entity. So far, you have been worshipping only a statue of me. The moment you saw me as someone who can hear you, smell you, see you, my state of being became alive for you”. Krishna is alive, for, he resides within us. Every individual is absolute. “अहम् ब्रह्मास्मि”
While Arjun was fighting a war in Kurushetra, today, a man is at war with himself. He wrestles his mind, fights his emotions and his senses but often loses. There is a lot of knowledge and there are a lot of teachers but how many want to learn? And of those who learn, how many implement the teachings? An uncultivated man with a devotion to his Guru will ultimately gain more wisdom than a knowledgeable person who disparages his Guru and his mother & father. Wisdom can come only after devotion which, itself, can come only from the surrender of the self……………………Radhe Radhe, Jai Shri Krishna

Ariana Grande has chosen to credit herself as “Ariana Grande-Butera” in the upcoming film ‘Wicked’, reflecting her renewed relationship with her estranged father, Edward Butera. This decision marks a significant shift in Grande’s personal and professional identity, as she has previously only used her maternal surname in public life.
Grande and her father were estranged for many years, a tension that became public in 2013. However, following years of emotional growth, the singer and her father have reconciled. It comes just ahead of her highly anticipated role as Glinda in ‘Wicked’, slated for release on November 22, 2024.

Immediate Rate Cuts Unlikely as RBI Governor Cites Inflation Concerns
MUMBAI: In recent statements, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das made it clear that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is unlikely to lower interest rates in the immediate future due to persistent inflationary pressures. This reflects the RBI’s cautious approach to avoid risking economic stability with premature rate cuts despite recent rate cuts in other countries.
Over the last two years, the RBI has kept the repo rate, the rate at which banks borrow from the RBI, steady at 6.5%. Governor Das emphasized that while economic growth remains steady, inflation has seen fluctuations, reaching a nine-month high of 5.5% in September. This spike was largely driven by rising food prices, a trend expected to continue in the October report, making the current economic landscape unsupportive of a rate cut.
Das also noted that while India’s growth prospects remain resilient, with projections of around 7.2% for the fiscal year, inflation continues to be a critical concern. The Governor underscored that reducing interest rates could trigger an inflationary surge, potentially destabilizing the recent progress toward the RBI’s inflation target of 4% with a 2% margin. He likened inflation control to “keeping a horse in the stable,” warning that hastily loosening monetary policy could lead to inflation “bolting out of control” again.
Despite pressures from global central banks, including the U.S. Federal Reserve, which recently reduced interest rates, the RBI remains committed to maintaining its cautious stance. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das assured that the RBI would only consider rate cuts once inflation aligns durably within the target range, indicating a patient “wait-and-watch” approach that aligns with the central bank’s long-term goals for sustainable economic health.
This conservative stance is further reinforced by the global rise in crude oil prices, adding to inflationary pressures through higher import costs. The RBI projects inflation to stabilize around 4.5% in FY25, signaling that while inflationary risks are being monitored closely, the RBI will only consider monetary easing once there’s consistent evidence of disinflation.
